What Jip stores
- Channel history: in channels where a server enables it, the recent messages (text, author name and ID, attachment names and links), so Jip understands the conversation. Content is encrypted at rest with a key unique to the server. It is deleted after 30 days, when the message is deleted or edited away on Discord, when the channel is deleted, and 30 days after Jip is removed from the server. Any member can stop storage of their own messages with
/privacy opt-out. - API keys that server admins add: encrypted, never shown again after saving, used only for that server's requests.
- Settings chosen by server admins, and an audit log of setting changes (who and what, not message content).
- Usage counters: IDs, timestamps, token counts and costs, used for limits and statistics. Never message content. Kept 90 days.
- Reminders you set, encrypted, until shortly after they are sent.
What is sent to third parties
To answer, Jip sends the request, the relevant conversation context and files to the AI model provider used by that server (the server's own provider when it added a key, otherwise the provider behind Jip's free tier), and, when an answer needs a web search, a search query that Jip writes from the message to the configured search provider. Those providers process the data under their own policies.
What Jip does not do
No selling of data, no advertising, no training of models on your messages by Jip. Logs exclude message content.
